Siobhán is available from time to time to give talks or workshops to a variety of audiences.

Schools/libraries

Siobhán is a member of the Writers in Schools scheme, and her preference is to work with a group of older children or teenagers (a class or a writing group drawn from different classes) on a writing project over a period of several weeks. This is possible through the Writers in Schools residency programme.

Information on school visits and residencies is available on Poetry Ireland’s website.

This includes some advice and suggestions from Siobhán to writers: 'Preparing for a Visit or a Residency'.

Workshops for adults

Siobhán has experience of working also at third level and with adults. She specialises in teaching the writing of fiction (not just for children).

Conferences/festivals

Siobhán is an experienced panellist and speaker, especially but not exclusively in the area of children’s literature.
She has a particular interest in how narrative works.

Visual impairment

Organisers need to be aware that Siobhán’s visual impairment limits her a little in what she can do. She can’t read from her work, for example, and she needs extra support from the teacher in the classroom. Since she doesn’t drive, Siobhán prefers to confine herself to schools and libraries in the Dublin area, but she will consider invitations to travel further afield, provided suitable supports are in place.
